Licensed Addiction Counselor
Footsteps Counseling is looking for Licensed Addiction Counselor for contract work. If you are interested in the opportunity to contract with Footsteps Counseling. This position assists clients in developing an understanding of chemical dependency and facilitates effective methods to maintain a drug-free lifestyle. This position has flexible schedule.
Licenses and Certifications: Successful candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain certification as a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) or Certified Addiction Counselor through the South Dakota Board of Addiction and Prevention Professions (BAPP) within 10 days from the date of contract. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Bachelor's degree in alcohol and drug abuse studies, counseling, psychology or closely related field preferred.
Knowledge of:
Social, behavioral, psychological and physical effects of chemical dependency;
Individual, group and family therapy techniques;
Community resources for the treatment and rehabilitation of chemically dependent patients;
12-steps of AA and NA;
Chemically dependent, psychiatric and developmentally disabled population.
Ability to:
identify symptoms of alcohol and/or drug abuse;
gather, interpret, report and use information concerning clients;
establish and maintain effective interpersonal counseling relationships with patients and families;
formulate treatment plans and make recommendations;
display experience in working with emotionally, socially and behaviorally challenged adolescents;
work with the clinical and treatment team to implement chemical dependency programming;
work individually with clients;
communicate in a professional manner;
maintain thorough and timely documentation of behaviors including progress and outcomes;
interpret and follow established policies, operations memoranda, procedures and guidelines;
